N. Korea Provided Raw Uranium To Syria (Iran) In 2007: Sources

TOKYO -- North Korea provided about 45 tons of "yellowcake" uranium to Syria in September 2007 for production of fuel for an undeclared nuclear reactor, diplomatic and military sources knowledgeable on North Korean issues said Saturday. But the shipment was followed shortly by an Israeli air strike targeting the reactor and the uranium involved is believed to have been transferred to Iran around last summer, according to a Western diplomatic source.

8 Md. counties get disaster declaration

WASHINGTON (AP) -- President Obama has declared a disaster in eight counties in Maryland because of damage done by a snowstorm in December. Baltimore, Caroline, Cecil, Harford, Howard, Kent, Montgomery and Queen Anne's counties will be eligible for federal funding. The state of Maryland and certain private nonprofits will also be eligible for emergency protective measures.

More global anti-Semitic incidents reported in 2009 than any year since WWII

Nearly half of Western European believe that Jews exploit the persecution of their past as a method of extorting money, according to an annual Jewish Agency report released on Sunday. A joint report on anti-Semitism conducted by the Agency and the Ministry of Diaspora Affairs found that 42 percent of those polled by the University of Bielefeld in Germany agreed that "Jews exploit the past to extort money." The countries in which the highest percentage of the population agreed with that statement were Poland and Spain.

Lobbying hit record $3.5 billion in 2009

Stimulus created 600,000 jobs at the end of 2009, White House says

The Obama administration's economic stimulus program created nearly 600,000 jobs in the final three months of 2009, a figure in line with the administration's goals for job creation through the end of 2010, the White House reported Saturday night.
